Green Island Resort
Refurbishment of the Resorts refrigeration systems was under taken in 2019 as part of the Islands commitment to upgrading their facilities to a more efficient and environmentally friendly operation.
With the intention of lowering the power consumption of the refrigeration equipment, reducing the GWP ( global warming potential ) of the refrigerant used on site and reducing the impact on the eco system caused by excessive noise the decision was made to install 3 x water cooled refrigeration condensing units utilising the Resorts existing cooling tower. These three systems were to replace the existing 8 x air cooled systems currently in use, each of the new refrigeration condensers was to be capacity controlled with Danfoss VLT variable speed drives, Danfoss thermostatic expansion valves and superheat controls for each new evaporator.
Included in these works was the decommissioning and removal of stand alone air cooled refrigeration systems, supply and installation of the new Kirby evaporators and condensers, installation of a new condensing water loop from the refrigeration condensers to the cooling tower, replacement of the refrigeration pipework and insulation and the associated electrical controls wiring and detailed commissioning of the new systems.
Since the completion of the upgrade ACS has maintained and carried out service requests to the Resorts 2 x York 360kw water cooled screw chillers, 1 x 560kw cooling tower, 42 chilled water fan coil units, AHU’s and controls, 54 Split systems and 10 x walk in cold / freezer rooms.
